How QBAN works

From the first draft
to the final payment.

One agreement, two counterparties and an agreed sequence of conditions — monitored through to delivery and settlement.

The contract-to-settlement lifecycle

A transparent sequence of commitments.

Each stage creates a traceable record that informs the next. The workflow supports both preapproved automation and human intervention where required.

01
CONTRACT CREATION

Seller drafts the agreement

The seller enters buyer details, products, quantities, pricing, delivery requirements and proposed milestones. AI assists with the first draft, which the seller must review.

02
COLLABORATIVE REVIEW

Buyer reviews and negotiates

The buyer proposes changes to terms, evidence requirements and payment triggers. Both parties review the same versioned negotiation history until agreement is reached.

03
MUTUAL COMMITMENT

Agreement is signed and configured

The parties sign the final human-readable contract. Approved terms are mapped to structured milestone rules, funding instructions and permitted exception workflows.

04
FUNDED TRANSACTION

Buyer funds the agreed escrow

The buyer transfers the agreed amount in an approved stablecoin to the designated settlement arrangement. Availability and sufficiency of funds are confirmed before execution begins.

05
PERFORMANCE EVIDENCE

Seller completes and documents work

Production records, shipping information, inspection reports and delivery evidence are attached to relevant milestones or received from connected systems.

06
VERIFICATION & CONTROL

Conditions are verified

QBAN reviews information against structured contract terms. Trusted sources and the authorised acceptance process determine whether a release condition has been satisfied.

07
RULES-BASED SETTLEMENT

Milestone payment is released

When all defined requirements are met, the settlement component authorises the predetermined payment. Any hold, dispute or exception stops release under the agreed rules.

08
FINAL RECONCILIATION

Contract is closed and reconciled

Each payment and approval is recorded. The parties receive a complete history of documents, status changes, confirmations and settlement results.

Illustrative purchase contract

How a 100,000 USDC agreement could settle.

Consider a supplier delivering manufacturing equipment under four separately verified milestones. Payment amounts and release conditions are approved in the signed agreement.

This is a simulated example only. Actual settlement is subject to negotiated legal terms, verified conditions, regulatory requirements and the selected escrow arrangement.

If something goes wrong

Automatic does not mean unchecked.

Real trade involves uncertainty. QBAN is designed to preserve the contractual rights of both parties when evidence is missing or performance is disputed.

  • Missing documents keep a milestone pending
  • Evidence mismatches trigger manual review
  • Valid disputes prevent the affected payment release
  • Approved amendments require controlled updates
  • Refunds and timeouts follow the signed agreement
